Administrator (Admin)

A special type of organization member with assigned permissions to modify objects or settings.

An organization administrator can:

  • Add or remove members from the organization.

  • Perform any action on any organizational unit, for example, change organization settings.

  • Delete an organization.

Authorization ()

The process of determining whether a user has permission to access a particular resource or perform a particular action. Authorization is performed after authentication and uses access control lists (ACLs).

Chargebee ()

The preferred subscription management platform used by Platform Services. Chargebee handles e-commerce transactions, including payments, renewals, and billing-related notifications. Chargebee also manages the secure handling of payment information.

Guest ()

A special type of organization member who is not assigned subscription seats. You may need to create this type of user to assign specific product roles.

Member ()

A member is a user assigned to the organization to perform specific tasks. An organization is required for any member in SmartBear. Members may belong to multiple organizations and be active or disabled. Typically, a member can view other members of their current organization.

Members cannot invite new users by default.

Organization (Org)

A structural object that allows user and subscription management based on the following rules:

  • Centralizes all members under a single organization.

  • Enables subscription and entitlement work, including billing information and payments management.

  • Users can be invited directly to an organization and have an administrator’s role assigned automatically.

  • An organization administrator can modify any object or setting within the org.

  • Multiple organization administrators are allowed.

Subscription ()

A subscription is a contract between an organization and SmartBear that gives users access to products for a specific period.

Plans in the subscriptions can be changed, but users are not entitled to any refunds.

Trial license ()

Technically, a trial license (trial) is a time-limited license with one seat automatically assigned to the user who requested the trial on the SmartBear website.

Trials are limited to applications that use SmartbearID, can be assigned to organizations, and support subscriptions.

User ()

A user generally refers to an account with a SmartBear ID with an active subscription assigned to SmartBear products. In the scope of an organization, administrators manage users as members.

license administrator ()

This is the person who controls and manages licenses on your side. This person can be different from those who run SmartBear products.

SmartBear account ()

You use this email address and password to obtain product licenses and log in to SmartBear online services and portals.

Plan ()

A plan represents a set of features within a product or a hub that a customer can buy at a certain price and billing interval. A plan is a template for a subscription; a customer subscribes to a plan. Once a customer purchases a "plan," a subscription will be generated based on the plan and associated with the customer.

Welcome Email ()

When new users first sign up for a SmartBear ID, they receive an email with login instructions and a link to set up their account.

Sales-Assisted Subscription ()

A subscription is sold through the SmartBear sales team and managed via Salesforce. The sales team finalizes these subscriptions, and changes to the subscription must be handled through the sales representative rather than through the Platform Services interface.

Marketo ()

A marketing automation platform integrated with the Trial Engine to send nurture emails during trial periods. Marketo receives notifications from the Trial Engine to trigger email campaigns.

License Revocation ()

The process of removing a product license from a user revokes their access to the product. Notifications are sent to inform users when their access has been revoked.
